Case Study:  The Good Deed

Car One was traveling east in the right-hand lane. Car Two was in the left lane just slightly behind Car One. Car Three was parked on the shoulder with a flat tire.

As the driver of Car One approached Car Three, she noticed someone crouched by the side of the car changing a tire.   To give the tire changer plenty of room, she started to swing into the left lane. This forced the driver of Car Two to swerve to the left.

His left front tire scraped a concrete curb, and he lost control and collided with Car One. The driver of Car One then slammed on her brakes, spun across the road, and flipped over. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
